Boutixury's Spa Holidays Collection

The Boutixury Spa Holidays Collection
Imagine taking some time out from your busy life, to relax, recuperate and recharge the batteries. We all feel better for some “me time” but most of us suffer from not enough “me time”. Massage improves body circulation by flushing out toxins, and the benefit of peace and tranquillity leaving you feeling relaxed.
What better way to really look after yourself than to book a holiday that focuses on you, your body and your health.

The leading hotels of the World have developed spa programmes with some of the leading spa companies to offer the perfect holiday combination of sun, sand sea, spa and serenity.

Some of the amazing destinations you may want to consider for your spa break holiday include: Mauritius, Seychelles, Thailand, Malaysia, Grenada, Antigua and the Caribbean generally.

The Mediterranean is also developing spa products and destinations such as Ibiza are offering hotels for relaxation and recuperation – or for ageing ravers to benefit from the ying and yang of healthy hedonism by mixing some clubbing with some spa time. Mallorca also some beautiful luxury hotels which are perfect for a weekend break or longer trip. Greece is also a wonderful choice with Crete, Mykonos and Santorini offering world class spa hotels.

Morocco, with its rich history and culture is also developing a reputation as an emerging spa  destination. The Moroccan hammam is your way to get sparkling clean by sweating out the toxins in various steam rooms. Originally part of the Islamic ritual, it’s is as much of a social gathering for the locals. Generally the men and women bathe separately. Visitors can expect a full scrub down, to ensure dead skin is removed, a mud paste is applied followed by an oil treatment, then off to a steam room and with some treatments you will get a massage.

We have to admit we love Thailand for the fact that it’s so easy and cheap to get a massage or some reflexology from almost every street corner which offers a low-cost alternative to a spa holiday

If you haven’t been to Spa Hotel before then some of the terminology can be a bit technical but hopefully our brief explanations below will help you to decide what works for you:

Spa treatments can vary and different hotels will focus on different styles of treatments.

A to Z of Spa’s and Spa Treatments:
Acupressure – using traditional Chinese methods to apply pressure to stimulate the energy flow in the body..
Acupuncture – using needles this traditional Chinese technique uses either a low voltage current known as electro acupuncture, or pinpoint massage known as acupressure.

Aromatherapy – Using fragrant oils this treatment is used mainly for relaxation and help combat stress.
Aromatherapy – usually using essential oils this is a great stress buster and improves circulation, eases muscle tension and generally improves your health
Ayurveda Spa – Ayurveda means:  the ancient Hindu art of medicine and of prolonging life. It’s an ancient wisdom and science of longevity and preventative medicine. It’s about longer lasting benefits of feeling good and looking great. It’s about finding a longer term solution to dealing with stress. The Ayurveda therapy are used primarily for detoxing and managing weight loss and the treatments can include massage and yoga
Caldarium – steam room with “flavoured” steam such as Jasmine
Chakra – This is an Ayurvedic term for energy ‘centre.’ It is understood that there are seven chakras, which need to be in harmony for the body to be balanced
Destination Spa – Quite simply a spa where you can relax, focus on you and your treatment needs. A good example of a destination spa is the Six Senses Sanctuary in Phuket, Thailand. Their aim is to create the best destination spa of this century. It’s all about healthy living. You will be hosted on Full Board basis, with your own individual consultation at the start of your stay. You will receive an 80 minute spa treatment per day and you will be able to join daily activities including lectures, classes and fitness programmes to keep you busy all day if you choose. You will have your own private villa and pool, together with a butler. The idea is simply to change your life – complete relaxation and focus on you and your wellbeing

Thalasso Pool – with a minimum of 3% salt levels, the seawater and hydro jets will help easy muscle strain.
Thalassotherapy Spa  - Thalassotherapy is a treatment that uses sea water and its effect on the skin by opening up the pores and correcting imbalances. Seaweed is also used
Thermal Spa - Thermal Spa’s have a natural source of thermal or natural water on site which are used to relax and help with general muscle aches.

In our opinion the ultimate is a Spa holiday is offered by Six Senses Resorts & Spas who offer a variety of Spa options, including the ultimate in self renewal – the Evason Hua Hin Resort in Hua Hin, Thailand where the aim is to change what you do and how you do it – forever.

Closer to home in Barcelona there is a Six Senses Spa at the Hotel Arts Hotel Arts. Located on the 42nd and 43rd floor, with stunning views of the city

In Mallorca, St Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort is not only one of the top hotels in Europe but the Spa was voted one of the best in Europe by the readers of Conde Naste Traveller Magazine.

Ibiza is also fast reinventing itself into a chill out and spa destination. Check out the Aguas De Ibiza and the Insotel Fenicia Prestide Thalasso Spa , both in Santa Eulalia, or for a bit more life and soul take a look at the Ibiza Gran Hotel.

What exactly is a boutique Hotel ?

What Exactly Is a Boutique Hotel ?

Oxford English Dictionary definition of boutique is:
a business serving a sophisticated or specialised clientèle”. In hotel terms this can reflect a number of things: a hotel that is not part of a chain, or a hotel of stylish appearance – being a bit hip and trendy really and generally a hotel with less than 100 rooms.
The true benchmark of a boutique hotel is the service. Any hotelier or hotel company can claim to offer unrivalled, unparalleled service and offering a personal service. But offering great service is an investment in the hotels future – therefore a boutique hotel cannot cut corners or down size its customer to staff ratio.
At Boutixury we only focus on boutique and luxury hotels. Why? Well mainly because we really like staying in Boutique and Luxury hotels around the World! And therefore our business aims to seek like-minded people who will benefit from our travel experiences and knowledge, and because we work with a wide variety of hotels, airlines and tour operators we believe we will be able to find you a great price
Let us know what style of hotel you prefer: modern or traditional, informal or more formal, and we’ll seek out the right choice of hotels for you. And if like us you get a bit of wanderlust then we’ll also help you plan a multi-centre adventure.

Why can't more cities be like Barcelona

Barcelona – The Ultimate Short Break City Break

Barcelona, the capital of Catalunya, offers a wide choice of boutique and luxury hotels. Barcelona is a great choice for shopping, sightseeing, sipping Rioja, taking in a pintxos (Catalan version of a tapas) bar, seafood restaurants, bars, nightlife, beautiful people, beaches and some of the best hotels in Europe…so where better for a weekend trip to  the stunning city of Barcelona… Here are a few pointers to help your planning. Getting the location of the hotel right is essential in any city and choosing a boutique or luxury hotel in Barcelona is no different. Have a look at Eixample or the new area of @22, close to the seafront.
To orientate you around this city and to make sure you see as many sights and sound of this beautiful city either explore using the extensive Metro network, or jump on one of the hop on, hop off sightseeing buses, taking in all the key areas including Sagrada Familia, the Gaudi church, one of the longest running construction projects in the World, after work started in 1882. Gaudi’s finger prints are all over Barcelona, one of his other well-known project s is Casa Batlló…
Head up to the 1992 Olympic stadium, and take in the shops on Avenguda Diaganol, Gran Via and Placa Catalunya. One of the largest and most colourful markets in Barcelona is the Mercat de la Boqueria located right on Las Ramblas. Stroll down Barcelona’s most famous street and head out towards the sea and beach area via the modern promenade
Barcelona really comes to life at night and whatever your style of nightlife then Barcelona has it all:
Head to Passeig El Born in the El Born district for an authentic view of Barcelona at night.
Rambla de Raval is a bit more edgy, and if you are looking for a vibrant gay scene then look no further… plus in the summer months Sitges is about 30 minutes away
Last time we were there we found Poble Sec to be pretty hip and happening. If sipping cocktails is more your style then head over to Port Olimpic. Most clubs are open until 3am, some until 6 am... and if you a really need to cool off then head to the sub-zero temperatures in the Ice Bar… and don’t go to bed until you’ve checked out our favourite club ROW14 http://www.row14.es/webapp/agenda - if you spend your Summer’s in Ibiza and you are missing the White Isle then this venue might just help ease you through those long winter months
But don’t rule some of the amazing hotels Barcelona  for a night out (or in) The W Hotel Barcelona is an experience in its own right with the Eclipse Bar located 26 floor up…. On some nights top dj’s will entertain you and we think the cocktails are some of the best we’ve tasted

Check Out Our Choice of Barcelona Hotels and treat yourself to a few days in this great city

Hotel in London For New Year's Eve - Start Planning Today Before Prices Go Up

Forget Halloween there are only 9 weeks to go until New Year…and where better to spend New Year on the eve of 2012.. why Lonodon of course. Savvy people book their London Hotel now because there are also some really good London Hotel Offers for New Year’s Eve if you plan ahead – and from our experience most people don’t. And as we get closer to New Year’s Eve then the hotels prices go up as they start to fill the rooms – similar to the way Low Cost Airlines manage their prices. With 2012 of course being Olympic year it’s a pretty decent assumption that Mayor Boris will want to put on an extra special night to announce to the World that London is ready and waiting to see the host city. So don’t miss out or find yourself saying you’d wished you’d planned ahead for this New Year’s Eve.. of all the New Year’s Eve’s in London surely the passing of 2011 and the arrival of 2012 promises to be the best, and judging by last year’s fireworks then probably the biggest New Year’s Eve party in the World… be part of it, enjoy it and wake up on the first day of 2012 in a boutique or luxury London hotel.. what a perfect start to what promises to be a historic year for London

And for an even more compelling argument you may not have realised that this year New Years Eve falls on a Saturday night...so you dont have to back at work until Tuesday 3rd January... so go on and make a weekend of it
Our favourite London Hotels: Andaz at Liverpool Street, almost a hop, skip and a jump from the Olympic Stadium at Stratford.. get even closer at the Town Hall Hotel & Apartments in Bethnal Green… If you prefer heading West then why not try the Jumeirah Lowndes in Cadogan Place, or The Metropolitan Hotel just off Park Lane.

The Perfect Luxury Boutique Hotel?

The Perfect Luxury Boutique Hotel?
The term Boutique hotel is often accused of being somewhat overused. What really is the definition of a boutique hotel?  How many guest rooms are too many to be in Boutique? In Manhattan we have hotels that claim to be boutique but have 200 rooms… well for New York 200 rooms is a relatively small hotel.  So what makes the perfect Luxury Boutique Hotel?

1. Location Location Location – with trying to go all “Kirsty and Phil” on you, any decent hotel has to be in the right location. But is this really true...Surely with the right ingredients any hotel can be the right location... with a few obvious exceptions is there really a wrong location. A few years ago the idea of turning the disused Town Hall in Bethnal Green in to a boutique hotel wouldn’t have been laughed at (and sneered at too we don’t doubt) but the Town Hall Hotel and Apartments excellent hotel is helping to breathe new life in to this are of London… or the perfect location for many would be with great Sea view like the Saint John Hotel and Villas in Mykonos

2. it’s all about the décor – I must admit I do have a thing for minimalist décor in hotel rooms… All white washed and sultry... I really like Cavo Tagoo in Mykonos again (so many cool luxury boutique hotels in Mykonos) but some boutique hotels like to break with conventionality and with rooms a little different... like the Sanderson in London…bit’s also refreshing to find luxury boutique hotels that are just, well… different… Palm Springs wins hands down here with two different but great examples that are bringing a new crowd to what was once a fading resort – The Ace Hotel, and The brand new Riviera Resort & Spa.... next time you are planning a trip to New York then the Mondrian SoHo is very different to most of the bland corporate Manhattan Hotels… make your next stay in the Big Apple be more memorable… it’s not quite Alice in Wonderland, but not far from it…

3. It’s all about the romance – Sometimes you just need to get away and recharge your batteries... we don’t always book ourselves into a little secret hotel to explore a brand new city... sometimes we recognise we just need to remove ourselves from the day to day, leave the laptop at home (really, are you sure.. I think I am definitely addicted to mine!) And go in search of just not doing too much... here at Boutixury Towers we‘re really not very good at not doing much... there’s always a new hotel to find, new hotel descriptions to write and hoteliers to try and impress.. But every so often we book ourselves in to somewhere a little bit different and remind our partner that we do still love them and care about them more than anything else in the World... even if we don’t always remember to tell them or, by our actions, show them they mean everything to us…can a hotel create romance.. maybe it can create the right environment... the most romantic boutique hotel we’ve seen so far on our travels is Bill & Coo Suites (Mykonos Again).

4. It’s all about the Spa – every Cool luxury boutique hotel has to have a spa Right? A chance to really give your body the time and treatments it deserves... Well at the Sirayne Boutique Hotel and Spa ,not only can you enjoy breakfast overlooking the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains, and have the privacy of, in suites, your own private swimming pool, but the spa will leave you refreshed and relaxed with a massage where they literally walk all over you !

5. It’s all about the Personality – not like your crazy Great Aunt Mabel who is always described by the family as “the one with the interesting personality” but personality as in character.. And character in abundance like the Hotel SixtyTwo in Barcelona... in a building dating back to 1897 - feel like a local in Barcelona and get the full Catalan experience..

7. Ultimately it’s all about the Service - the most important thing about a luxury Boutique hotel. Staff who remember your name and your face. They treat you as a person and not a number ….Great service is all about knowing your customer... we won’t single out a specific hotel for excellent service as we think all out hotels offer the very best in customer care

If you would like to suggest or recommend a luxury boutique hotel then please contact me: blog@boutixury.com – I’d love to hear from you.

So What Is It Really Like at The Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel

The Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel is the new concept for 2011. Having opened around the 1st May 2011the hotel is very much up and running. We had a VIP tour and we were very impressed - in fact so much that we've booked to go back and stay in early September.

The hotels offers a "Miami style" hotel concept where the entertainment is very much centered around the hotel. Targeting an older demographic that your average San Antonio holidaymaker the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Club brings in some of best DJ's to the hotel about 3 or 4 times per week

During the day the hotel is calm and relaxed, getting busier as guest awake from their slumber. The volume cranks up a botch about 5 and the party is in full swing as the sun goes down, By midnight it all has to stop as local rules say you cant party 24/7 anymore (well, not officially anyway !) but after the hotel party you have plenty of optioins. Space, probably the best club on the island, is merely yards over the road, or the hotel's very own beachfront Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Club will keep the beat going, as will the other Beach bars along Playa den Bossa Beach

We really like the swim up rooms (above) and think the hotel is a great option for a clubbing based upscale Ibiza holidays. Lets be honest here, the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel is not cheap - but you're paying for the experience which is different to any other hotel on the island, and possibly in the Med ?

With a gym, spa, hamman, Pioneer DJ room (where you can learn to DJ) then we think it's a perfect venue for a hen-do, a girls holiday, or couples who like to have fun without any kids running around - strictly adults only at the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Club

7 Of The Best Ibiza Beaches?

7 of the Best Ibiza Beaches ?
Ibiza has some fantastic beaches, there are 54 of them in total. The most difficult decision is choosing which ones to visit. Beach living is all part of the lifestyle of Ibiza. The cost of hiring a sun lounger is controlled by the local Government so you will pay the same price on any beach - €7 per sun lounger, and €7 if you require a parasol. Nudity is very accepted on all the beaches in Ibiza, but some are more naked than others but the main resort beaches do have a more conservative dress code .
Es Cavallet and Ses Salines are probably regarded by most people to be the best on the island. They occupy either end of the same bay which is close to the airport. Es Cavallet is probably our favourite beach in Ibiza. Parking is free if you get there early enough and if you don’t, or you really can’t face the walk then the cost is €5 at Ses Salines. Our favourite day time restaurant is located here – El Chiringuito -  and we really recommend you try the Sea Bass cooked in the local Rock Salt, with a bottle of vino to take yourself out of the sun and enjoy a leisurely lunch in simple, but typically Ibizan beach restaurant. Don’t expect to get too much change out of €120. Nudity is common here but there are plenty who prefer not to bare all.
Inbetween Es Cavellet and Ses Salines there  are a number of small coves with room for maybe 20 sunworshippers who have made the short trek for a little bit of semi-private beach. The picture below is the restaurant El Chringuito preparing for a sunset beach wedding - a great venue and location for your wedding in Ibiza

Both Es Cavallet and Ses Salines get very busy at the weekends as they are popular with the locals so our recommendation is to get there early. Our experience is that Ses Salines is less naked and more scenic that the other end of the bay with many boats mooring up to enjoy the crystal waters and maybe take a speedboat to one of the beach bars. Jockey Club (www.jockeyclubibiza.com) is probably the best known and plays some upbeat tunes to keep you entertained as the sun beats down, and Malibu (www.ibizamalibu.com)  is also great for a paella, a sangria or just sitting backing and getting a little respite from the heat. If you are looking to keep the costs down then head to the spa just about hald a mile from the beach on the right hand side of the road. Join the queue for a great (and really cheap !) bocadillo which you can munch at leisure on the beach.
Cala Jondal, most famously home to Blue Marlin (www.bluemarlinibiza.com) is a must visit if you have never been before…it’s a pebble beach and maybe there are a few wannabees but we’ve never found any attitude and everyone is there for a laid back good time. Start with a jug of sangria, take a leisurely Lunch with a bottle of wine and some Red Snapper, sleep it all off on the sunbeds.. and kiss goodbye to €300 in the process !  If you can afford it then do it.. and do it in style by arriving on a speedboat, go straight to the bar and order yourself a bottle of Moet.. that’s the way to do it at the Blue Marlin.
And if the budget wont stretch to the Blue Marlin, or if you are looking to get away from too many people (particularly at weekends where the beaches of Ibiza are very busy) then how Playa es Codolar where you can drink (cheaper!) sangria and dine (for less!) at Café Macao

If you like the idea of getting in to your hire car and heading to a small cove then we really like Es Xarco. A pebbly beach but made more comfortable with the dry sea weed that creates a comfortable mattress to chill out. It’s just round the corner from Cala Jondal so if you swim out to sea a little and see the boats all moored up just off the coast. There is a fantastic restaurant where you must try the catch of the day.

For a sandy beach with plenty going on then you would be hard pressed to beat Playa den Bossa /Platja den Bossa. A great sandy beach which shelves gently and is always busy, but without being crammed in like sardines. The various beach bars ensure that there is always some entertainment, notably Bora Bora – the original and some stay still the best – Open until 2am every night it’s the pre-club destination hang out. Bora Bora sits directly under the flightpath and roar of the engines overhead with the music pumping only adds to the great atmosphere. Further along there is the award winning Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Club with the brand new Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel (www.boutixury.co.uk/Ibiza/Ushuaia-Ibiza-Beach-Hotel) sitting right behind. Further along there is more choice with Sands, Nassau Beach Club and Delando Beach Club.
A great Family beach is Cala Longa where it feels like you can walk out to sea for ages and still the water is only up to your waist. There are usually plenty of sunbeds and parasols, and lots of space for the kids to run around or build sandcastles
